| Concerning the Burmese view of the
so-called "Jambupati" type Buddha states, Note here the lacquer-paint and inlay of coloured glass-pieces in the three-fold step- crown, the heavy collar-formed jewelly about the neck and the crossed "bands of honour" over the breast (salwe). Note-worthy also are all bearing rings; the vine- like leaf-motifs comming from the knees and upper arms; the gesture of the right hand touching the earth and the square, glass-inlaid thorne on which the Buddha sits. |
