The major Styles
3.) Lopburi Style (7th to
14 th Century AD) Influenced
by outside traditions, as were the two preceding styles, Lopburi
art
was a provincial extension of the Khmer art style. The Khmer Empire
of Cambodia
during this time had spread into what is present-day central and
norteasthern
Thialand. Khmer art styles such as Angkor Wat(circa
AD 1110-1175) and Bayon (circa AD 1177-1230) are used to classify
Lopburi art. Lopburi images had square
and masculine proportions, and were usually made from bronze and
stone. The
style is popular with collectors and present-day Thai sculptors
are masterfully
filling their demand with very convincing replicas.
